DRY GRAVITY SEPARATOR

TYPE AKA-FLOW

EVOLUTION IN GRAVITY SEPARATION FOR ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY MINING

In a world of limited water resources and rising costs to meet environmental requirements, the demand for new technologies to reduce outlay on the separation processes is increasing.

The two major problems facing the industry are:

• limited water availability in arid areas
• environmental restrictions of both water supply and disposal of slurries

In response to this, AKW A+V developed a new kind of dry gravity separator for fines. The recent breakthrough arose from the air fluidised bed, in combination with a specially developed sifter. Latest trials have confirmed its outstanding efficiency.

The optimum working range is for grains less than 3mm. Trials have also shown good results are achievable with differences in density less than 0.3 g/cm3, e.g. feldspar and quartz. Capacities between 5–25 t/h can be attained with units of 1,200 mm width.

AKW A+V can provide feasibility test work for all interested customers. Furthermore, we offer a mobile unit for on site test work.

DRY GRAVITY SEPARATOR
TYPE AKA-FLOW

Tests in our laboratory have demonstrated useful applications for the AKA-FLOW in:

• coal
• stainless steel slag
• different iron ores
• heavy minerals in varying sand deposits
• salt
• quartz/feldspar
• barite
• illmenite
• primary and secondary tantalite ore

Advantages of the AKA-FLOW:

• effective and economic separation for higher capacities
• low energy consumption
• completely dry process, water no longer required
• enables mining in arid and permafrost areas
• pre-concentration on mine site to reduce transportation costs
• allows environmentally friendly mining
